3. Who does the actual shoveling?

Accepted Answer

Snow removal is completed by local college students using the Snow Scholars platform. Students are trained to shovel your driveways, city sidewalks, walkways, stairs, and patios. They dispatch when they are out of class and when the snow stops for the day.

4. How does the service work for homeowners?

Accepted Answer

Once you reserve your spot, we track the upcoming snow accumulation and automatically dispatch Snow Scholars after snowfall stops for the day. You'll get an email confirming our dispatch plan and when your shoveler completes your property. No need to call — we show up, clear your property, and follow up with a quick email to rate and tip your student shoveler. We offer a whole season and vacation plan. We have two dispatch heights, 1/2" and 1" dispatch triggers to comply with the city ordinances and to prevent ice forming overnight. 1/2" or 1" of snow may not sound like much, but we only dispatch when the temperatures are cold enough and the snow will not melt.

Arrival times are within 24 hours of the snow stopping for the day, although our usual time frame is 4-12 on lighter snowfalls.

5. Is the work reliable and safe?

Absolutely. Snow Scholars are trained and prepared to handle snow safely, using hand shovels or snowblowers to protect your property — no plows scraping your driveway. We dispatch once the snow concludes for the day. A majority of our workforce is college students, and we ask for your patience per class schedules and university breaks. Historically, storms below 6" have a 6-12 hour arrival timeframe. Storms above 6" have a 12-24 hour arrival time as we hand shovel. Overnight shoveling may occur in colder temperatures to prevent ice build-up.

Prefer to be first on a student’s route? Priority service is available for an additional $29.99 per storm.

6. Can I request specific areas to be cleared?

To streamline service and consistency, we only clear driveways, city sidewalks, front walkways, front stairs, and back patios. We shovel around the clock, and want to clear the most important/visible areas to our shoveler. Areas including gated spaces or trash bin zones, rear walkways, etc. may be inaccessible during certain snowfalls, so we focus on the spaces we can safely and reliably reach.

9. What Is The Sign Up & Billing Process Like?

It takes 5 minutes or less! We’ll ask a few quick questions about your contact and service preferences. The whole-season plan includes snow removal every time it snows, while the vacation plan offers unlimited coverage during your selected dates for a flat fee. A credit card is required to keep on file, securely processed through Square. Whole season customers are billed each time snow shoveling occurs. Vacation customers are billed prior to receiving service. An email receipt will be provided for every service.
