Snow Scholars is a student-run snow removal service where college students earn top pay by shoveling snow for homeowners and businesses near campus. We are a great way to employ local students.

Snow Scholars uses a simple, pay-per-snowfall pricing model:

• For standard snowfalls (1–6 inches), you’ll be charged a flat rate per visit based on your home and location.

• For larger storms (over 6 inches), there is an additional +$40 per event to account for the extra time and hand-shovel labor required.

• Optional add-ons are available if needed, such as priority service (first on a student's route for $29.99 per dispatch) or salt/sand treatment (+$10 per dispatch) , but there are no seasonal contracts required — you only pay when it snows and we service your property.

• A one-time $49.99 registration fee is required to activate your account, which includes an in-person visit and walkthrough by a local student campus manager who will review your property, take photos of all service areas, answer any questions, and place a property identification sign so our shovelers can quickly locate and accurately service your home from the first snowfall.

Our Snow Scholars do! These are hardworking college students who take on residential snow removal jobs to help their communities — and earn great money to pay for tuition! They dispatch when they are out of class and when the snow stops for the day.

Once you reserve your spot, we track the upcoming snow accumulation and automatically dispatch Snow Scholars after snowfall ends. You'll get an email confirming your spot on a route based on the forecast. No need to call — we show up, clear your property, and follow up with a quick email to rate and tip your student shoveler. Whole season customers can experience a pay-per-snowfall model, with no minimum or monthly payments. Vacation customers are required to pay a flat fee prior to service, which includes unlimited hand-shoveling during the dates selected.

Whole season customers can select 1/2" or 1" dispatch triggers to comply with the city ordinances and to prevent ice forming overnight. 1/2" or 1" of snow may not sound like much, but we only dispatch when the temperatures are cold enough and the snow will not melt.

Arrival times are within 24 hours of the snow stopping for the day, although our usual time frame is 4-12 on lighter snowfalls.

Absolutely. Snow Scholars are trained and prepared to handle snow safely, using hand shovels to protect your property — no plows scraping your driveway. Please allow a 12 hour window for arrival, as students finish class. On heavy snow days, dispatch times are up to 24 hours as we hand-shovel, but we strive for safe, thorough service. If you need ultra-immediate clearing, another service may be a better fit. Prefer to be first on a student’s route? Just add $29.99 per storm for priority placement.

To streamline service and consistency, we only clear driveways, city sidewalks, front walkways, and front stairs. We shovel around the clock, and want to clear the most important/visible areas to our shoveler. Areas including gated spaces or trash bin zones, rear walkways, etc. may be inaccessible, so we focus on the spaces we can safely and reliably reach.

The whole-season plan is pay-per-snowfall, while the vacation plan offers unlimited coverage during your selected dates for a flat fee. A credit card is required to keep on file, securely processed through Square. Whole season customers are billed each time snow shoveling occurs. Vacation customers are billed prior to receiving service. An email receipt will be provided for every service.
